Reviews

The Tolkien 2019 is very beautiful. When I saw that this year had the gorgeous artwork from the new "The Fall of Gondolin" book, I knew that i wanted this. I've enjoyed the art and illustrations by Alan Lee through the years as well--his masterworks are represented nicely within the calendar. There's a wonderful introduction in the beginning by Christopher Tolkien, and he describes the tale of The Fall of Gondolin briefly. It's set on two pages with a penciled illustration. The illustrations in the Tolkien 2019 calendar are based on "The Fall of Gondolin", "The Children of Hurin", and "Beren and Luthien".Here's what is laid out each month:• January — Hurin And Huor Are Carried To Gondolin• February — The Gates of Angband• March — Swanhaven• April — The Rainbow Cleft• May — Mount Taras• June — Ulmo Appears Before Tuor• July — Orfalch Echor• August — Tuor Reaches Gondolin• September — Morgoth's Spies Searching For The Secret Way Into Gondolin• October — Turgon Strengthens The Watch• November — The King's Tower Falls• December — Glorfindel And The Balrog
